Oil on canvas. Northern Italian school of the 19th century. The landscape depicts a vast countryside opening onto the Alpine range, preceded by the gentler slopes of the pre-Alpine hills; on the central path, which runs straight and perpendicular to the reliefs, a peasant passes with his mule. The atmosphere is that of late afternoon, with pink hues illuminating the snow-capped peak. A very similar subject can be found in the works of the circle of Carlo Canella (1800-1879), the Veronese artist known mainly for his urban views. The artwork is presented in a frame from the late 19th century.
