Earthenware "Whiskey" bottle by Roger Capron in Vallauris, stylized blue and black plant decoration, 1950s. Perfect condition Height 33.5cm Stamp engraved below Capron Vallauris France and serial number B6 GB A6 CAPRON Roger (1922-2006) Professor in Applied Arts, Capron was first interested in drawing. He discovered ceramic work in Vallauris before Picasso, and created the Callis workshop with Robert Picault. He founded his own workshop in 1952 and sold his collections notably in the United States at the Saks Fifth Avenue department store. He received awards in numerous international exhibitions in Milan, Brussels, Cannes... From 1963, he gradually abandoned shaped pieces for decorative tiles used in architecture: wall panels, building lobbies, stores. From the 1980s, he turned to unique pieces and Raku sculptures.
