Recognized as an orientalist and animal painter, séné favors the world of reality, relying on the “modern vision” imposed by the impressionists. Like them, he freed himself from ancestral pictorial canons to invent a new pictorial technique responding to the desire to favor instantaneous "impression" over the construction of the mind in painting.
