Oil on canvas signed by olynthe madrigali (1887-1950) coast in bastia. 1918 see inscriptions on the back original oil on canvas dated 1918 beautiful frame, slightly damaged at the top left. Dimensions 45 X 54 cm the subject: cherry blossoms on the slopes, succulents and cacti, the sea: the painter transports us directly to his native corsica. Two paths trace a vanishing point in a triangle, a woman's back takes us to the village in the distance, to the right two walkers stroll along the water's edge. The sea also seems to come alive, as do the sailboats in the distance: the wind is blowing. The technique, impressionist, sometimes pointillist, allows a variety of movements, shapes, and colors. The palette, almost tawny, transcribes the dazzlingness of the corsican country. The artist: olynthe madrigali (1887-1950), painter from bastia and brother-in-law of the sculptor jean-mathieu pekle, acquired his skills as an autodidact despite a brief period of study with paul saïn. During the first world war, he was captured by the germans, then settled in algeria around 1920 as a customs official, while exploring syria in 1929. His paintings evoke the landscapes of algiers, its region, and the landscapes of his native corsica.
