Butti paul (buttigieg paul, known as) (1924-2004) enval, circa 1990. Oil on canvas. Signed, titled and dated (date partly covered). In good condition (slightly stretched canvas, mounted on a frame, natural wood presentation sticks). Dimensions: 46 X 55 X 3 cm. Provenance: private collection. Information: enval is a commune located in puy-de-dôme. A large part of its territory is occupied by the enval gorges, a natural site classified as a “natural area of ecological, fauna and flora interest”. There is no doubt that this composition, which seems at first glance to border on abstraction, with this density of material and its heterogeneity of techniques (painting, sand, collage) is a landscape, possibly created on the motif of first and taken up in the workshop. Its title attests to this, as does the color palette and lively gesture, which tend to capture the particular and fleeting atmosphere of the site. Biographical elements: born in tunis, paul butti (1924-2004) is an abstract painter active in france from the 1950s to the end of the 20th century. He regularly exhibited at the salon de mai (from 1952 to 1960) then at the salon des réalités nouvelles (from 1969 to 1979) and at the corzo gallery, amsterdam. Some of his works appear in public collections in france and abroad but most are in private collections (notably that of joris van grinsven, in dordogne). Fast and careful shipping in a reinforced package.
