The hospital chapel in the suburb of "maudit bout" in honfleur is the subject of many variations in different seasons by andré hambourg, between 1951 and 1958. For example, a very close composition made in winter in the same dimensions (reference hf123) *andré hambourg paints landscapes and seascapes. Lithographer, draftsman, decorator, he travels a lot and brings back from his stays many preparatory drawings to illustrate bibliophile works, especially on normandy and its beaches, provence and its markets. In 1933, he won the prix de l'afrique-occidentale française and the prix abd-el-tif — shared with émile bouneau — and settled in north africa from 1933 to 1939. Official painter of the navy since 1952, he divides his time between the normandy coast – he owns a house in englesqueville-en-auge (calvados) – and saint-rémy-de-provence, which are his favorite subjects. In 2007, his wife nicole rachet donated 71 of his works (paintings, prints and drawings) to the musée national de la marine in paris2. Source: wikipedia.
