Mahogany Pedestal Table, Empire Period – Early 19th Century

This mahogany pedestal table opens at the waist with a small drawer. Its massive circular top rests on a flared shaft with ringed moldings at the base. The latter ends in a raised tripod base with concave sides. Always appreciated for its size, the pedestal table is the occasional piece of furniture par excellence, so when it has survived two centuries without showing the slightest wrinkle, it becomes a beautiful, useful and solid piece of cabinetwork. ******** period: early 19th century excellent condition.
