Jean lair de la haye - 19th 20th century - l'orientale - oil on canvas 101 X 730 format 40 landscape jean lair (1886-1960) large canvas 100 cm X 70 cm and 109 cm x79cm with frame, signed at the bottom on the right jean lair, born in rennes but from marseille by adoption. He frequented the artists of montparnasse before 1920. His works linked to important official commissions can be seen on giant surfaces such as the panel in chanot park, the main staircase of the palais de justice, the church of plan de cuques, the the apse of the church of cassis, and discover certain frescoes in beautiful marseille residences. But he drew portraits of many personalities from marseille, and captured flowers, landscapes, ports both in france and in north africa.
