Oil on canvas by Jean-Marie Luc Blanpain

Oil on canvas (81x60) in very good condition signed by the artist Jean-Marie Luc Blanpain (1947-2021) and dated July 1988, representing the Canadian athlete Ben Johnson in the middle of a relay race. Note: after the Seoul Olympics (August-September 1988), the athlete was declared positive for doping, which probably led the artist to modify his work subsequently (collage of newspaper extracts at the top left of the canvas) and give it a title “ben johnson dope medal” work seeming to break with the themes of his previous works (marines, horse racing scenes, etc.) Canvas sold without frame (but possibility of selling it in its original frame to be renovated in format 25 p) This large painting will fit perfectly into the decoration of a large living room wall.
